1. Test the Battery — Before It Strands You
Most people associate dead batteries with winter, but heat is actually the bigger killer. High temperatures evaporate the internal electrolyte and accelerate corrosion. If your battery is more than three years old, get it load-tested.
2. Check Your A/C Performance
An A/C system that blew ice-cold last September may struggle this June. A small refrigerant leak can drop output by 20 degrees. We can perform a full performance check, leak test, and recharge in about an hour.
If your A/C smells musty when you first turn it on, the evaporator and cabin filter need attention — not more refrigerant.
3. Inspect Belts and Hoses

4. Flush the Coolant if It’s Due
Coolant doesn’t just prevent freezing in winter; it raises the boiling point in summer and keeps the cooling system from corroding. Most vehicles need a flush every 30,000 – 60,000 miles.
5. Check Tire Pressure and Tread
Hot pavement combined with under-inflated tires is a recipe for blowouts. Check pressures when the tires are cold, and look for uneven wear, cracks, or bulges in the sidewall.
6. Top Off and Test Fluids
- Engine oil — should be clean and at the full mark
- Brake fluid — absorbs moisture over time and boils faster in heat
- Power steering and transmission fluid — should be the correct color, not burnt
- Washer fluid — you’ll use more of it with summer dust and bugs
